Retro Games on Good Old Games

So when I was younger I didn’t have access to many computer games as my Dad didn’t see the value in purchasing a computer that could actually play anything released post 1995. This meant that I missed out on a lot of awesome games. So you can imagine my elation at finding out that I can now buy them for very cheap at GOG.com.

I finally went onto their website and quickly brought Planetscape Torment and the original Fallout games (I always felt bad playing the new ones when I hadn’t even played the originals). All up it cost me about $20. The other great thing is that you can also download extras like manuals and so forth.

I’ve started playing Planetscape Torment which, according to the manual, is based on an Advanced Dungeons and Dragons game. I’m really enjoying it as it plays like a fantasy novel with cool descriptions whenever your talking to someone or click on things. It’s taking a bit of getting used to, playing a game that was made 11 years ago but I think I’m over that now. I’ll keep everyone posted with how it goes, hopefully it just gets better. Just goes to show that retro nostalgia isn’t always misplaced.

Sweet I cannot wait for this to come out. Sometime this year.

Fresh for the new year comes a brand new selection of screenshots from L.A. Noire, focusing on the incredibly lifelike characters of our dark detective thriller coming this spring.

Here’s the actual game trailer showing some of the animation. I’m not sure though if I buy the guy from Mad Men as a tough police type.

Looking forward to this game. The facial animations of the characters are pretty impressive. Plus in an interview with Games magazine the games director, Brendan McNamara said “We tried as far as possible to move outside the idea of cut-scene gaming.” which (as you may be able to tell from my previous post) I like the sound of.
